Abstract

PURPOSE: A method for recognizing a Hangul font is provided to enhance the cognition power for Hangul and perform simultaneous recognition by both letter unit and word unit. CONSTITUTION: The host computer(2) controls a scanner(4), downloading the program for the letter recognition through communicating between a first letter recognition unit(10) and a second letter recognition unit(14) and uploading the result of recognition. The document to be recognized is inputted in a binary format from the scanner, and the data need is stored in a global memory(18) through the first communication channel by the control of the first letter-recognizer to perform the recognition process. The first and the second letter-recognizer respectively perform simultaneously letter-recognition by accessing the data stored in a global data. At this point of procedure, the first letter-recognizer divides the letter data into letter units and assists the second letter-recognizer in performing recognition. The first letter-recognizer is exclusively for recognizing letter. The information divided in letter unit in the first letter-recognizer and the result recognized in the second letter-recognizer are transmitted in both directions through a second communication channel(12).
