Abstract

PURPOSE: A process for preparing synthetic cotton by pulverizing illite as a clay component and mixing synthetic fibers is provided, thereby producing functional cotton having excellent antibacterial and anti fungal performance and harmful gas absorption removing performance. CONSTITUTION: The process for producing the titled synthetic cotton comprises the steps of: preparing a master batch by mixing illite with a size of 1,500 to 3,000 mesh with polyester chips for the manufacture of fibers in a ratio of 2 to 5% by weight and agitating at 150deg.C for about 1 hr in a heating agitator; introducing the master batch and polyester chips in a ratio of 5 : 5 in a rotary drier, rotating for 25 to 30min and drying at 150deg.C; melting at 260 to 270deg.C and spinning with a thickness of 6 to 15 denier; drawing melt-spun monofilaments; and crimp-processing and cutting.
