Abstract

PURPOSE: An apparatus for reducing noxious elements in exhaust emission is provided to minimize HC generating in a large quantity at an early stage of engine starting. CONSTITUTION: A noxious gas reducing apparatus comprises a chamber(12) forming a void by surrounding a part of an exhaust manifold(10) and communicating with the inside of the exhaust manifold via many hydrogen gas supply holes(11); a tank(13) supplying hydrogen gas to the chamber; a valve(14) controlling supply of the hydrogen gas; and an ECU(Electronic Control Unit)(15) controlling opening and closure of the valve. At an early stage of engine starting when a large quantity of unburned HC is generated, hydrogen gas is supplied into the exhaust manifold. Then, HC is mixed with the hydrogen gas. Therefore, content of HC in exhaust emission is minimized and exhaust emission cleaning efficiency is improved.

본 발명은 자동차용 배기 유해가스 저감장치에 관한 것으로서, 특히 엔진의 시동 초기에 다량으로 발생되는 탄화수소(HC)를 저감시킬 수 있도록 하기 위하여 배기 매니폴드 내에 소정의 수소가스를 공급할 수 있는 수단을 제공함으로써, 수소가스와 혼합되는 탄화수소의 산화를 유도하여 배기 유해가스 중에 포함되어 있는 탄화수소의 양을 최대한 저감시킬 수 있도록 한 자동차용 배기 유해가스 저감장치에 관한 것이다.BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION 1.
