Abstract

PURPOSE: Composites for inhibiting 3-Hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl CoA(HMG-CoA) reductase activity are provided to drop blood cholesterol for the prevention and the treatment of high cholesterol by containing vitamin C and orange peel extract, vitamin C, hesperidin and naringin. CONSTITUTION: Orange peels are washed with water and dried at room temperature in the shade. Water or 95% ethanol is added to the dried orange peels to extract active substances at 5-140deg.C. The extract is injected to a blood cholesterol patient as much as 1-5g/1kg/day. The extract is added to foods or beverages for to impeding 3-Hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl CoA(HMG-CoA) reductase activity, and drops blood cholesterol. The composites of the extract are varied by reaction time, reaction temperature, alcohol concentration, orange type and ripe rate.
