Claims

1. A sampler for a powder material, comprising:
a lower vapor barrier layer having an upper surface;
a sample of the powder material disposed on a sample area of the upper surface of the lower vapor barrier layer;
an upper vapor barrier layer disposed over at least the sample area of the upper surface of the lower vapor barrier layer;
a seal between the upper vapor barrier layer and the lower vapor barrier layer configured to contain the sample of the powder material.

The sampler of claim 1 , wherein an extended portion of at least one of the upper vapor barrier layer and the lower vapor barrier layer extends outwardly beyond the seal in a direction away from the sample.

The sampler of claim 2 , wherein the extending portion extends sufficiently to form a tab for grasping by a human user.

The sampler of claim 1, wherein the seal is formed by the use of heat.

The sampler of claim 1 , wherein the seal comprises a ring of adhesive disposed between the sample and outer edges of the upper and lower vapor barrier layers.

6. The sampler of claim 5, further comprising a second seal between the upper and lower vapor barrier layers formed by the application of heat.

The sampler of claim 6, wherein the second seal is disposed radially outward from the ring of adhesive.

The sampler of claim 1 , further comprising an adhesive layer applied to a lower surface of the lower vapor barrier layer.

The sampler of claim 1 , wherein at least a portion of the sample area of the upper surface of the lower vapor barrier layer is coated to improve adhesion to the sample.

The sampler of claim 1 , wherein the lower vapor barrier layer and the upper vapor barrier layer are made from materials selected so as not to degrade when the sample is disposed thereon.

The sampler of claim 1 , wherein the lower vapor barrier layer comprises a laminate of at least two materials.

The sampler of claim 1, wherein the sample includes a stabilizer.

1. A method for manufacturing a sampler for a powder material, comprising the steps of:
providing a vapor barrier material for a bottom layer of the sampler;
providing a vapor barrier material for an upper layer of the sampler;
providing a liquid sample material for placement in the sampler;
disposing the liquid sample material on an upper surface of the lower layer;
drying the liquid sample material to produce a powdered sample;
and sealing the upper layer to the lower layer.

14. The method for manufacturing a sampler for powder materials of claim 13 , wherein the liquid sample material is applied using a roller applicator.

14. The method for manufacturing a sampler for a powder material as recited in claim 13 , wherein the liquid sample material is dried using heat.

The step of sealing the upper layer to the lower layer comprises:
Providing a liquid adhesive material;
disposing the liquid adhesive material on the upper surface of the bottom layer;
drying the liquid adhesive material;
and disposing the top layer on the dried liquid adhesive material.

20. The method for manufacturing a sampler for powder material of claim 16 , wherein the liquid adhesive material is applied using a roller applicator.

20. The method for manufacturing a sampler for a powder material of claim 16 , wherein the liquid adhesive material is dried using heat.

14. The method for manufacturing a sampler for a powder material of claim 13, wherein the liquid sample material comprises a powder material dispersed in a volatile solvent or fragrance.

20. The method for manufacturing a sampler for a powder material as recited in claim 19, wherein the volatile solvent is water or a hydrocarbon.
