前記構造の中に物を導入するための導入口と、
を備える装置が提供される。
まず、実施の形態の原理について、以下の項目(1)〜項目(3)に分けて説明する。
(1)振動結合を利用する化学反応の定量化
(2)振動結合に必要とされる要件を備えた構造の具現化
(3)振動結合化学反応装置を具現化し、所望の化学物質を製造・処理する工程
最初に、項目(1)に関し、振動結合という量子力学的現象と化学反応という物理化学的現象を巧みに融合すると、ほぼあらゆるタイプの化学反応を桁違いに促進できること、及び、振動結合による化学反応の促進を解析的・定量的に評価できること、のそれぞれを、以下の項目(1)−A、項目(1)−B、項目(1)−Cに従って説明する。
(1)−A:光と物質の相互作用
(1)−B:一般の化学反応を方程式で記述する方法
(1)−C:振動結合下にある反応速度定数を定量的に記述する方程式の導出方法
局所的な光電場が存在できる構造(例えば、共振器や表面プラズモン・ポラリトン構造)に物質が置かれると、図1(A)で示すように、光と物質はエネルギー・運動量に関して新たな分散関係を持つようになる。このことはすべての物質に当てはまり、気相、液相、固相の相に依らない。この新たな分散は、光の分散(右肩上がりの直線)および物質の分散(水平な直線)と反交差した上枝(P+)と下枝(P−)から成る曲線を成す。つまり、光電場が局所的な空間に物質と共に閉じ込められると、光と物質は混ざり合い、上枝と下枝の状態間をラビ角振動数ΩRで行き来する。この状態は光−物質混成体と呼ばれ、巨視的コヒーレント(可干渉性の)状態である。図1(A)に示すように、光−物質混体は、物質の分散に近いと「物質的」、光の分散に近いと「光的」、両分散の交点では物質と光が丁度半分ずつなる。すなわち光と物質は、エネルギー・運動量の分散関係に応じて任意の割合で混合する。上枝状態と下枝状態のエネルギー差は、ラビ(Rabi)分裂エネルギーと呼ばれ、以下の式で示される。ラビ分裂エネルギーの大きさは、光と物質間の相互作用の強さに比例する。
化学反応とは、端的に言えば、化学結合の切断と生成である。例えば、A、B、Cを原子とし、分子ABが切断され、新たに分子BCが生成される化学反応は、次の(式6)で示される。
この(式6)を分子振動として模式的に示したのが図2(A)であり、分子ABおよび分子BCの振動ポテンシャルU(r)の重なりである反応ポテンシャルとして描写したのが図2(B)である。図2を詳細に説明すると、原子Aと原子Bは、ある化学結合を介して結合して分子ABを形成する。分子ABは原子間距離rが平衡核間距離re近辺において分子振動を行っている。この系の正反応の活性化エネルギーEa0は、分子ABの振動ポテンシャルにおいて、遷移状態の原子間距離aにおけるポテンシャルエネルギーU(a)と平衡原子間距離reにおけるポテンシャルエネルギーU(re)の差として、次の(式7)で定義される。なお、原子間距離rが無限大で、分子ABの振動ポテンシャルU(r)はゼロになると定義すると、−U(re)は分子ABの解離エネルギーDe(定数)に等しい。従って、

振動結合とは、上述の光と物質の相互作用の一種であり、赤外領域(波長:1〜100μm)の電磁波を閉じ込め可能な共振器や表面プラズモン・ポラリトン構造が形成する光学モードと、分子や結晶など化学物質の振動モードとが結合する現象を指す。図3(A)において、(a)は振動系(原系)のエネルギー準位(調和振動子近似)、(b)は振動結合系のエネルギー準位(調和振動子近似)、(c)は光学系のエネルギー準位である。(a)の振動系の振動エネルギーと(c)光学系のエネルギーとが
次いで、項目(2)に関し、項目(1)に基づき、振動結合に必要とされる要件を備えた構造を具現化する工程について、以下の項目(2)−A、項目(2)−B、項目(2)−Cに従って説明する。なお、本構造の具体的な製造に関しては、[製造方法の説明]の節で後述する。
(2)−A:光学モードを形成するための光電場閉じ込め構造とその要件
(2)−B:化学反応に用いる化学物質が持つ振動モードとその要件
(2)−C:光学モードと振動モードの振動結合とその要件
光学モードを形成するための光電場閉じ込め構造とその要件について説明する。光電場を閉じ込め可能な構造として第一に挙げられるのはファブリ・ペロー(Fabry Perot)共振器である。図5(A)に示すように、ファブリ・ペロー共振器7は、2個の互いに平行な鏡面1(ハーフミラーを含む)が1組で構成される最も基本的な共振器である。入射光3がファブリ・ペロー共振器7に入射する時、一部は反射光4として反射される一方、ある特定の波長の光はファブリ・ペロー共振器7内部で繰り返し反射される共振光5となり、共振光5の一部が透過光6として透過する。この描像を数式で表すと以下となる。すなわち、2個の鏡面間の距離である共振器長がt[μm]、屈折率がnの誘電体2が鏡面1間に挟まれる時、2個の鏡面1間で次の(式21)の関係で示される光学モードが立つ。
化学反応に用いる化学物質が持つ振動モードとその要件を説明する。N個の原子から成る分子は、並進と回転の自由度を除いた3N−6個の振動モードを持つ(但し、直線分子の場合は3N−5個)。この内、振動結合に利用できる振動モードは双極子許容に限る。この理由は(式1)が示すように、遷移双極子モーメントdがゼロであると、ラビ分裂エネルギーhΩRがゼロとなり、結果、結合強度:ΩR/ω0もゼロとなるためである。実際、(式17)または(式18)にΩR/ω0=0を代入してみると、κ−/κ0=1、すなわち、振動結合による化学反応の促進は得られない。なお、双極子許容は換言すると、赤外活性のことであり、赤外吸収があるものを指す。赤外活性の振動モードは、化学物質に対称中心があれば、逆対称伸縮振動や逆対称変角振動等から成る一方、他方、対称中心がなければ、逆対称伸縮振動や逆対称変角振動等に加え、対称伸縮振動や対称変角振動等も含む。(式1)によると、ラビ分裂エネルギーhΩRは遷移双極子モーメントdに比例する。すなわち、遷移双極子モーメントdが大きいほど、結合強度:ΩR/ω0は大きくなり、(式17)または(式18)から、相対反応速度定数:κ−/κ0も増大する。つまり、遷移双極子モーメントdが大きい振動モードほど、振動結合は化学反応をより促進する。
光学モードと振動モードの振動結合とその要件について説明する。ファブリ・ペロー共振器7を用いて振動結合を達成するための条件は、光学モードの波数kmと振動モードの波数ω0を用いると、次の(式25)で表される。
上記した項目(2)に基づき、振動結合を行う目的と化学反応を行う目的が両立した振動結合化学反応装置を具現化し、それを用いて所望の化学物質を製造・処理する工程について、以下の項目(3)−A、項目(3)−B、項目(3)−Cに従って説明する。
(3)−A:線形共振器による振動結合化学反応装置の大容量化
(3)−B:線形共振器による振動結合化学反応装置の多モード化
(3)−C:振動結合化学反応装置のモジュール化、ユニット化、システム化
まず、線形共振器の概念と、それによる振動結合化学反応装置の大容量化について説明する。図5のファブリ・ペロー共振器7は構造が簡単で製造し易いという利点がある一方で、光の閉じ込め空間は共振器長tで規定されるため、振動結合用の化学反応容器としては容量が小さいという短所がある。例えば、図5を参照すると、波数が1000cm−1の化学物質の振動モードとファブリ・ペロー共振器7の光学モードを振動結合する場合、共振器内を満たす化学物質の屈折率が1.5ならば、共振器長tは約、3.33μmである。この場合、鏡面1の広さがたとえ1m四方でも、充填可能な化学物質の体積は約3.33cm3にしかならない。容量を稼ぐには二次元的構造から三次元的構造へ拡張すれば良いが、ファブリ・ペロー共振器7を幾つかを単純に積層する構造は製造が非常に困難である。ファブリ・ペロー共振器7が持つこれらの短所を克服する目的の下、つまり、光電場閉じ込めと化学反応容器としての大容量化を両立しつつ製造も簡素化する目的の下、鋭意研究の結果、次に示すような線形共振器を集積する方式を考案するに至った。
次いで、線形共振器による振動結合化学反応装置の多モード化について説明する。線形共振器は、構成可能な光学モードの数がその断面形状に依存する。換言すると、線形共振器を用いると、同時に振動結合できる振動モード数を複数にすること、つまり、多モード化が可能となる。具体的な例を図8に示す。図8は、様々な平行六角形線形共振器単体の断面図、並びに、平行六角形線形共振器集積体の断面図である。
振動結合化学反応装置のモジュール化、ユニット化、システム化について説明する。
以上のように、本発明の実施の形態である振動結合化学反応装置は、光電場閉じ込め構造が形成する光学モードと、化学反応に係る化学物質の振動モードとを振動結合することで、振動エネルギーを減少させ、化学反応の活性化エネルギーを低減できるため、化学反応を促進できる。この効果は濃度に応じて大きくなるため、溶質を変化させる化学反応において溶媒に振動結合を生じさせると、反応速度定数は大幅に増大する。
図10および図11を参照して、実施の形態の装置の製造方法を説明する。
本実施例では、振動結合下にある軽水(H2O)および重水(D2O)の赤外透過スペクトルの濃度依存性、並びに、結合強度:ΩR/ω0の濃度依存性について述べる。本実施例のポイントは、適当な光閉じ込め構造に軽水もしくは重水が置かれると、光学モードと振動モードは振動結合を起こし、特に、軽水・重水とも、凡そ9M(mol・L−1、L:リットル)以上の濃度で超強結合状態になる、つまり、超強結合水となることである。以下に本実施例の詳細を説明する。
本実施例では、振動超強結合下にある軽水(H2O)および重水(D2O)のラビ分裂エネルギー:
本実施例では、超強結合状態(0.1≦ΩR/ω0≦1.0)にある軽水(H2O)もしくは重水(D2O)、すなわち、超強結合水による化学反応促進の理論的予想を示す。本実施例のポイントは、超強結合水を用いれば、典型的な化学反応(活性化エネルギー:E0=0.5〜2.0eV)において、50〜1000万倍の反応加速を期待できることである。
本実施例では、OH(OD)基を有する物質の結合強度:ΩR/ω0とOH(OD)基と数密度の関係を実験的に評価した結果を説明する。本実施例のポイントは、OH(OD)基を有する物質が非常に低濃度(0.0467mol・L−1)から振動強結合状態を呈し、更に、実用的な濃度(15.1mol・L−1)で振動超強結合状態になることから、OH(OD)基含有物質が強結合・超強結合物質として産業上利用価値が高いことを証明した点にある。
本実施例では、図18(A)で示される、水(H2O)とシアン酸イオン(O=C=N−)から、炭酸イオン(CO3 −)とアンモニウムイオン(NH4 +)を生じる加水分解反応について、[製造方法の説明]で述べた手段により製造された振動結合化学反応装置を用いることで、顕著に反応速度定数を増加させることが可能であることを証明する。本実施例のポイントは、本発明による超強結合水を用いれば、約70倍の反応加速をもって、シアン酸イオンを炭酸イオンとアンモニウムイオンに分解できることである。
本実施例では、図19(A)で示される、水(H2O)とアンモニアボラン(NH3BH3)から、アンモニウムイオン(NH4 +)、メタホウ酸イオン(BO2 −)、水素(H2)を生じる加水分解反応について、[製造方法の説明]で述べた手段により製造された振動結合化学反応装置を用いることで、顕著に反応速度定数を増加させることが可能であることを証明する。本実施例のポイントは、本発明による超強結合水を用いれば、約1万倍の反応加速をもって、加水分解によりアンモニアボランから水素を取り出せることである。
本実施例では、振動超強結合下にある軽水(H2O)および重水(D2O)について、それらの液体(水:water)と固体(氷:ice)の結合強度:ΩR/ω0を比較した結果について述べる。以下では、超強結合状態下の水を超強結合水と呼んだように、適宜、超強結合状態下の氷を超強結合氷と呼ぶ。
本実施例では、軽水(H2O)および重水(D2O)の液体の水および固体の氷について、ポラリトン状態の振動数と結合強度:ΩR/ω0の関係について述べる。本実施例のポイントは、振動結合の理論通り、弱結合は勿論、強結合から超強結合まで、様々な結合強度:ΩR/ω0を持つ水および氷を自由に作り出すことが可能であること、特に、化学反応の促進効果が顕著である超強結合水および超強結合氷を実現できることである。
本実施例では、[実施例4]で示したOH(OD)基を有する物質の結合強度:ΩR/ω0とOH(OD)基の数密度:Nの関係に氷のデータを追加して説明する。本実施例のポイントは、純粋な軽水(H2O)の氷および純粋な重水(D2O)の氷がOH(OD)振動を有する物質の中、特異的に大きな結合強度:ΩR/ω0を持つことである。
本実施例では、OH伸縮振動のラビ分裂エネルギー:ΩRと濃度の関係を軽水(H2O)の水および氷とで比較した結果、並びに、超強結合下にある軽水(H2O)のラビ分裂エネルギー:ΩRの転移現象について述べる。本実施例のポイントは、以下の通りである。まず、振動結合下の軽水(H2O)氷の場合でも、振動結合下の軽水(H2O)の水の場合と同様に、ラビ分裂エネルギー:ΩR(もしくは結合強度:ΩR/ω0)と数密度:Nの間に平方根則(0.5乗則)に似た指数則(0.4乗則)が成り立つ。一方で、振動結合下の軽水(H2O)の水の場合とは異なり、振動結合下の軽水(H2O)の氷の場合、相対濃度がC/C0=86%(C0=43.7mol・dm−3)の時、ラビ分裂エネルギーがΩR=781cm−1からΩR=932cm−1へ転移する。なお、実験手順は[実施例1]および[実施例7]と同様である。
本実施例では、重水(D2O)の水および氷のOD伸縮振動のラビ分裂エネルギー:ΩRと濃度の関係の比較、並びに、超強結合下にある重水(D2O)のラビ分裂エネルギー:ΩRの転移現象について述べる。本実施例のポイントは以下の通りである。まず、振動結合下の重水(D2O)の水の場合と同様に、振動結合下の重水(D2O)の氷の場合でも、ラビ分裂エネルギー:ΩRと数密度:Nの間に平方根則(0.5乗則)に似た指数則(0.4乗則)が成り立つ。一方、振動結合下の重水(D2O)の水の場合とは異なり、振動結合下の重水(D2O)の氷の場合、相対濃度がC/C0=80%(C0=40.6mol・dm−3)の時、ラビ分裂エネルギーがΩR=527cm−1からΩR=704cm−1へ転移することである。なお、実験手順は[実施例10]と同様である。
本実施例では、軽水(H2O)および重水(D2O)の氷のOH(OD)伸縮振動に関する結合強度:ΩR/ω0と濃度の関係を比較して説明する。本実施例のポイントは、軽水(H2O)の超強結合氷と重水(D2O)の超強結合氷では、転移濃度と転移幅が若干異なることである。なお、実験手順は[実施例10]および[実施例11]と同様である。
本実施例では、超強結合氷を用いた場合、如何ほど化学反応が促進するかについて述べる。本実施例のポイントは、超強結合氷は超強結合水と比較して、結合強度:ΩR/ω0が約50%増強されることに起因して、超強結合氷は超強結合水を凌駕する化学反応の促進効果を呈することを理論的に明らかにした点である。
本実施例では、振動結合下の氷を化学反応の促進に利用する際の化学反応装置について述べる。本実施例のポイントは、喩え固体である氷であっても、振動結合に基づく化学反応プロセスを流体と同様に逐次的に進行できることである。
本実施例は、OH伸縮振動およびOD伸縮振動を同時に振動結合した、軽水(H2O)および重水(D2O)から成る氷の融点上昇について述べる。本実施例のポイントは、振動結合下の氷が通常の氷と比較して、融点が約0.2℃上昇するという現象を見出したことである。この融点上昇は約0.2℃と絶対値は小さいが、化学反応性以外で、振動結合による物性変換を観測した初めての事例である。

10.上記8又は9のいずれか一項に記載の装置において、
前記構造はファブリ・ペロー共振器又はプラズモン・ポラリトン構造である装置。
11.上記8〜10のいずれか一項に記載の装置において、
前記物は水、氷、または、水と氷の混合物である装置。
12.上記11に記載の装置において、
前記水、氷、または、水と氷の混合物を振動超強結合状態にする装置。
13.溶質を含む溶媒を、溶媒が有する基の伸縮振動と共鳴する光の波長に対して共振する構造の中に位置させ、前記溶質を反応させる処理方法。
14.上記13に記載の処理方法において、
前記溶質を反応させる際に前記溶媒を振動超強結合状態にする処理方法。
15.上記13又は14に記載の処理方法において、
前記基はOH基及びOD基の少なくとも一方である処理方法。
16.上記15に記載の処理方法において、
前記溶質は水、氷、または、水と氷の混合物を含む処理方法。

- OH基及びOD基の少なくとも一方を有する物質を含む物であって、前記少なくとも一方の基の伸縮振動に共鳴する波長の光が共振する構造の中に存在する物。
- 請求項1に記載の物であって、
前記物質は流体である物。 - 請求項1又は2に記載の物であって、
前記物質は水である物。 - 請求項1に記載の物であって、
前記物質は氷である物。 - 請求項1又は2に記載の物であって、
前記物質は水と氷の混合物である物。 - 請求項3〜5に記載の物であって、
前記物質は振動超強結合状態にある物。 - 請求項1〜6のいずれか一項に記載の物であって、
前記物質は溶媒であり、
さらに溶質を含む物。 - OH基及びOD基の少なくとも一方の伸縮振動に共鳴する波長の光が共振する構造と、

前記溶質を反応させる際に前記溶媒を振動超強結合状態にする処理方法。 - 請求項13又は14に記載の処理方法において、
前記基はOH基及びOD基の少なくとも一方である処理方法。 - 請求項15に記載の処理方法において、
前記溶質は水、氷、または、水と氷の混合物を含む処理方法。
