Abstract

PURPOSE:To enhance light resistance of a thermal recording material, by providing a thermal color forming layer comprising at least one specified leuco dye and at least one color developer of a specified general formula, on a base. CONSTITUTION:At least one leuco dye of formula I [A is formula II or the like, B is formula III (each of R2 and R3 is a 1-5C alkyl or cyclohexyl) or A, and C is A, B, hydrogen, phenyl or the like] and at least one color developer of formula IV (R is hydrogen, an alkyl or aralkyl) are dispersed in a binder such as polyvinyl alcohol to prepare a coating liquid. The coating liquid is applied to a base such as a woodfree paper and a plastic film, followed by drying to provide a thermal color forming layer, thereby obtaining a thermal recording material. The recording material is a near infrared absorption type thermal recording material having excellent light resistance.
