Abstract

PURPOSE:To activate the title surface easily, inexpensively and safely, by swelling the surface of a molding of a lowly active polymeric substance by contact with an ultraviolet-absorbing solvent under heating and irradiating this surface with ultraviolet rays at a specified wavelength. CONSTITUTION:The surface of a molding comprising a lowly active polymeric substance based on a polyolefin or polyacetal (A) and having a surface to which a paint, an adhesive, a printing ink, a functional dye or the like can difficulty adhere because of its low activity is heated to 30 deg.C or higher and is brought into contact with an ultraviolet-absorbing solvent (e.g., tetrachloroethylene) kept at a temperature lower than the surface temperature of component A by 10-80 deg.C for at least 20min to swell the surface of component A, and this surface is irradiated with ultraviolet rays at a wavelength of 1,800-2,100Angstrom and optionally subjected to treatment for removing static electricity.
