PURPOSE:To make recovering operation efficient by providing a recovery container where a developer which is discharged from a developing container is recovered and stored and a weight detecting means for the developer which is discharged from the developing container. CONSTITUTION:When the number of copy sheets increases up to the end of the life of the developer, a CPU 15 judges that and the device is all stopped from being driven. Then the developer is discharged by a developer conveying discharge screw 3 and recovered and stored in the recovery container 7, which sinks gradually; and a shield plate 9 also moves down accordingly and when the the developer in the development container 1 is all recovered in the recovery container 7, the shield plate 9 cuts off the optical path of detection of a photointerrupter 11. Then when the shield plate 9 moves down to the position of the photointerrupter 11, the CPU 15 judges that an a motor 4 stops. Further, the shield plate 9 and photointerrupter 11 constitutes the weight detecting means for the discharged developer. Consequently, the recovering operation is performed efficiently.
