Abstract

PURPOSE:To correct a drift of sensitivity even if it occurs in a detector and to enable the long-time and high-accuracy measurement of a sample whose concentration is unknown, by using the same detector alternately for monitoring excitation light and for measuring fluorescence. CONSTITUTION:A monitored beam of excitation light and a fluorescence are led to the same photomultiplier 18 through a lens 17 by a quartz fiber 15 and a quartz fiber 16 respectively. On measurement, first a sample having a known concentration Cs is put in a glass cell 6, and values obtained by adding it up (n) times when the fluorescence and the monitored beam do not come in are set as ISF, ISM and ISS and stored in a computer 23. Next, a sample whose concentration is unknown is put in the glass cell 6 in place of said sample, and values obtained by adding it up (n) times are set as IF, IM and IS. Then the concentration C of the unknown sample is calculated by the formula. A value thus obtained is outputted as a measured value to a printer 24.
