Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a slow reproducing picture smooth in a movement by forming the (n-1) difference signals of the same field length as a standard system comprising of n fields, respectively processing the video signal of the standard system and the difference signals and simultaneously recording on a recording medium. CONSTITUTION:The video signal of a field frequency n times (n is integer above 2) of the standard system is inputted from a terminal 1, to represent the difference between the two adjacent fields for every n field of an input video signal and form the (n-1) difference signals of the same field length as the standard system. The video signal of the standard system and these difference signals are respectively processed and simultaneously recorded on the recording medium 25. At the time of a slow reproducing, the medium 25 is travelled at a speed n' times (n' is integer above n) as fast as at the time of recording to reproduce the video signal of the standard system of the same contents and the respective difference signals throughout the n' fields. After the respective signals are reproduced, the respective difference signals are sequentially added to the n' fields of the same contents as the video signal of the standard system, thereby, the slow reproducing picture of 1/n' different in the contents for every field is obtained from a terminal 52.
