Abstract

PURPOSE:To achieve stable starting and operation, by controlling the frequency of driving voltage to be applied onto a piezoelectric member based on a phase difference between flow-in current and driving voltage to be applied onto the piezoelectric member constituting a vibration member. CONSTITUTION:In a drive circuit for a supersonic motor, output from a sweeping voltage generator 7 is fed through a selector 8 to the control terminal C of a voltage control oscillator 9. The oscillator 9 sweeps the frequency band close to resonant frequency of a vibration member 3 from higher region to lower region according to control voltage to be applied. Output therefrom is splitted into two and one is fed through a 90 deg. phase shifter 10 to a variable gain power amplifier 11 while the other is fed as it is to a variable gain power amplifier 12 so as to drive the vibration member 3. Current flowing through a mechanical arm is detected through a resistor R connected to one input terminal of a piezoelectric member 2 and a current detector 14. Applied driving voltage is detected through a voltage detector 13. Then the detected current and voltage are fed through a phase difference detector 15, a phase comparator 16 and a selector 8 to the voltage control oscillator 9 in order to control the driving frequency.
