Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the electrical shock when a discharge lamp is replaced by providing a direct-coupled transformer connected with the other output terminal of a DC power source on one end side of the winding and energizing the discharge lamp with the output across both ends of the winding. CONSTITUTION:The voltage across both ends of the secondary winding, i.e., the high-frequency voltage component generated across both ends (c) and (d) of a direct-coupled transformer 4, is nearly a half of the high-frequency voltage component generated at (d) of the direct-coupled transformer 4, and they are in opposite phases to each other. When the voltage on both ends of the secondary side is added, the high-frequency voltage component equal to that in the past is obtained. A lamp 3 can be high-frequency-lit as before, even if a current flows through a human body when the lamp is replaced, this current becomes nearly a half of the current in the past, thus the electrical shock can be reduced.
