Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the running performance of a motion-driven vehicle on a curved track by using a pickup coil which detects a magnetic field in parallel to the front-back direction of the vehicle body in addition to a conventional pickup which detects a magnetic field orhtogonal to the front-back direction of the vehicle and producing the position detecting signals from the outputs of said pickup coils. CONSTITUTION:The pickup coils 101A and 102A detect the magnetic fields orthogonal to the front-back direction of a motor-driven vehicle. While the pickup coils 101B and 102B detect the magnetic fields parallel to the front-back direction of the vehicle. Thus the intensity v1 of the right horizontal magnetic field of the vehicle is obtained from a square root of the square sum of both coils 101A and 101B. While the intensity v2 of the left horizontal magnetic field of the vehicle is obtained from both coils 102A and 102B in the same way. Then both signals v1 and v2 are used in place of the output of a rectifier to evade the deterioration of the position detecting gain even in such a case a large angle is formed between the direction of the vehicle and its running route like a curved track, etc.
