Abstract

PURPOSE:To suppress the occurrence of a false signal and to simplify detection processing of a real target, by providing a maximum value detecting circuit and an video average circuit in the rear stage of a CFAR (Constant False Alarm Rate) processing circuit. CONSTITUTION:Doppler frequency component extraction circuits 2-1-2-N extract and form output signals for a plurality of Doppler frequency components different from one another respectively from reception signals within a prescribed azimuth angle range and of the same distance. CFAR processing circuits 3-1-3-N suppress unnecessary signals out of the output signals of the circuits 2-1-2-N corresponding thereto. A video average circuit 4 receives outputs of the circuits 3-1-3-N and calculates an amplitude average value of all the output signals of the same distance. A maximum value detecting circuit 5 receives the outputs of the circuits 3-1-3-N and determines the maximum value of the output signals of the same distance. Outputs of the circuits 4 and 5 are given to a video selection circuit 7, and the circuit 7 selects the output of the circuit 4 in a prescribed limited area wherein the unnecessary signal is present, while selecting the output of the circuit 5 in an area wherein the unnecessary signal is not present, under the control of a control circuit 6a.
