Abstract

PURPOSE:To decide the state of a battery with simple constitution and to obtain desired pieces of voltage state decision information by measuring the time required by a battery terminal voltage to recover to a reference voltage after a heavy load state. CONSTITUTION:A switch 13 is turned on after the heavy load state to turn on a transistor (TR) 14 which constitutes a load current circuit, thereby feeding a battery load current I intermittently. The current terminal voltage VB across the battery 12 is compared by a comparator 16 with the reference voltage Vref. Then the time required until the voltage VB exceeds the voltage Vref is measured by the microcomputer 11 to decide the state of the battery 12. Optional pieces of voltage state decision information area obtained without increasing the scale of the circuit and the device is reduced in size and simplified.
