Abstract

PURPOSE:To produce the title steel sheet having beautiful appearance, uniformly coated, and having excellent corrosion resistance and coating performance by applying an inorg. chromating layer and a coating layer thereon by the electrostatic atomization of a Cr-contg. resin soln. having specified composition, viscosity, and electrical conductivity in a specified quantity, and heating the layers. CONSTITUTION:An inorg. chromating layer is provided on a surface-treated steel sheet at 5-150mg/m<2> per one side, expressed in terms of the metallic Cr, by the electrolysis or coating of the aq. soln. of an inorg. Cr compd. consisting essentially of Cr<6+>. A soln. contg. 50-400g/l resin and a Cr component whose ratio to the resin is controlled to 1/50-1/1 and having 3-50 centipoise viscosity and 2-30ms/cm electrical conductivity is applied on the chromating layer by electrostatic atomization. In this case, the resin-contg. chromating layer is provided at the Cr deposition rate of 3-180mg/m<2> per one side, and then heated at 50-350 deg.C.
