Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the production cost of a metallic mold and to improve accuracy by embedding solid lubricating materials in a metallic mold material in such a manner that said material are exposed interspersedly on a sliding surface, then casting a molten metal integrally into the metallic mold. CONSTITUTION:The sliding surface forming part 1 of the metallic mold is previously molded of a decomposition evaporatable material such as foamed polystyrene and the columnar solid lubricating materials 4 are held in the solid lubricating material holding holes thereof. Molding sand 6 is then packed into the sliding surface forming part 1 and is solidified and is disposed in the body part 2 of the metallic mold pattern. The metallic mold pattern 3 and the solid lubricating materials 4 etc., are disposed into a full molding flask 7 and the molding sand 8 is packed into the space thereof. The molten metal is poured into the space to form a metallic mold stock 9 and the sliding surface 9a is cut or ground by a cutting tool 11, by which the metallic mold 12 is obtd. Since the man-hours for working to form the sliding surface are extremely decreased, the production cost of the metallic mold 12 is reduced and since the sliding part is integrally formed, the accuracy of the metallic mold is improved.
