Abstract
PURPOSE:To provide an ultrathin solar cell having a dimming function and adapted for use in an IC card or the like by sequentially laminating a conductive support, a photovoltaic layer having a P-N or P-I-N junction, a transparent conductive layer made of a thin metal oxide film, and inorganic or organic photochromatic transparent protective layer to be integrated. CONSTITUTION:A photochromatic transparent protective layer 5 is laminated on a conductive support 2, a photovoltaic layer 3 and a transparent conductive layer 4. The layer 5 operates as a function of absorbing an ultraviolet ray or a surface protective film of the layer 3, is colored by irradiating a room light or a solar light to have a property of reducing an optical transparency as the quantity of irradiated light increases. Thus, when the incident light amount of the room light or solar light is increased, the light amount which is arrived at the layer 3 through the layer can be automatically regulated. Thus, an overcurrent and an overvoltage based on the electromotive force of the cell increases as the light quantity increases, can be automatically controlled.
