Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable inspection under optically the same conditions as the conditions for a finished disk by inspecting the reproduction characteristics of a metallic master disk in the state of attaching a tentative layer having the optical characteristics nearly equal to the optical characteristics of a substrate of an optical disk to said master disk. CONSTITUTION:A transparent plate 4 is disposed and pressed onto a UV curing type resin 3 of the metallic master disk 1 and UV rays are projected thereto to cure the UV curing type resin 3 so that the transparent plate 4 is stuck to the metallic master disk 1. The transparent plate 4 serves as the tentative layer selected to have the refractive index and thickness nearly equal to the refractive index and thickness of the layer of the finished disk substrate. The metallic master disk 1 attached with the tentative layer is irradiated with the laser light under rotation, by which the recording signal on the metallic master disk 1 is reproduced. Only the nondefective disk is subjected to the removal of the tentative layer and is sent to the ensuing press stage where the disk is subjected to pressing with a press. The reproduction signal of the level equal to the level of the finished level is thereby obtd. and the exact results of the inspection are obtd.
