Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a coating composition which can be used even without any catalyst, freed of problems such as toxicity of a catalyst and a short pot life of the mixture, capable of being dried at ordinary temperature to give a film of excellent properties, by mixing a specified copolymer with an isocyanate and a rubber. CONSTITUTION:A coating composition comprises a copolymer having structural units derived from a hydroxyl-containing vinyl monomer [e.g., 2-hydroxyethyl (meth)acrylate], an acrylic tert. amine [e.g., dimethylaminoethyl (meth)acrylate] and an acrylic ester other than the former two [e.g., methyl (meth)acrylate], an isocyanate compound (e.g., tolylene diisocyanate) and a rubber (e.g., liquid butadiene rubber). This composition can be used without adding any catalyst, so that it is freed of problems such as toxicity of a catalyst and a short pot life of the mixture, and can be dried at ordinary temperature to give a film of excellent properties.
