Abstract
PURPOSE:To flocculate and settle suspended solid and SS components contained in sewage by using a novel flocculating and settling agent which is obtained by mixing calcium oxide with a mixture of fly ashes and aluminum sulfate or with fly ashes coated with aluminum sulfate. CONSTITUTION:0.1-3.5pts.wt. aluminum sulfate incorporating 16-18 hydrate is mixed with 3-7pts.wt. fly ashes. Or the surfaces of fly ashes are coated with aluminum sulfate, dried and pulverized. A rapidly flocculating and settling agent is produced by mixing any one of the above-mentioned mixtures with calcium hydroxide at (50-85):(50-15) by weight ratio in a powdery state. Suspended solid and SS components contained in sewage can be rapidly flocculated and settled by dissolving this agent into waste liquid under agitation and furthermore this agent is effective also for pH regulation and deodorization. Since fly ashes produced at a time of combustion of pulverized coal are utilized, the rapid flocculent settling agent can be easily produced at low cost in large amounts.
