PURPOSE:To increase the quick charge performance of a battery by dispersing conductive fibers in an anode active material layer, and bonding conductive powder onto the surface of this layer. CONSTITUTION:An anode active material layer 2 is formed on both sides of a current collector 1. Conductive fibers such as fibrous nickel pieces having a length of 1mm and a diameter of 10mum are dispersed in the anode active material 2. This is formed by adding fibrous nickel pieces and polyvinyl alcohol to cadmium oxide, kneading with ethylene glycol to form paste, and applying to the current collector, then drying. Charge is conducted even in the vicinity of the conductive fiber and the anode active material layer 2 is uniformly charged over the whole area. Conductive powder 4 such as nickel powder sticked onto the surface of the anode active material layer 2 accelerates charging, and large capacity compared with a sintered anode plate can be obtained.
