Abstract

PURPOSE:To always ensure a proper amount of oil supply and to prevent damage to an engine by detecting a degree of deterioration in an oil pump and controlling it so as to change toward direction of increasing oil feed power of the oil pump as deterioration advances. CONSTITUTION:During operation of an engine mounting an oil pump 1 driven by the engine, and engine speed signal from an engine speed sensor 25 is input to a control unit 5. Measuring the engine operating time in a deterioration advancing region of the oil pump 1 being based on the engine speed, this operating time is accumulatively stored in memory. While a control signal is generated changing the oil pump 1 toward the direction of increasing oil feed power as the accumulated time increases. The oil feed power of the oil pump 1 is increased by increasing through the action of a solenoid 22 a set load of an adjusting spring 21 which urges in a closing direction a check ball 20 interposed between communication passages 17, 18 connecting an oil reservoir groove 15 to a delivery hole 13.
