Abstract

PURPOSE:To manufacture a composite material which exhibits furthermore effective lubricating characteristics by granulating BN powder and cast iron powder to composite grains by a resinous binder, uniformly mixing said composite grains to the cast iron powder and molding and sintering said mixture. CONSTITUTION:BN which is inert for iron and shows stabilized lubricative characteristics at a high temp. is granulated together with cast iron powder (ground turning) by a resinous binder to form composite grains. As the resinous binder, that in which ethanol is mixed to phenol resin is used. Said composite grains, as a lubricating agent, are furthermore mixed to the cast iron powder, are molded into the desired shape as a uniform mixture and are sintered. By this method, the titled material having excellent lubricating characteristics is obtd.
