Abstract

PURPOSE:To efficiently and inexpensively produce a grain oriented silicon steel sheet without deteriorating the magnetic characteristics thereof by executing cold rolling under specific conditions at the time of producing the grain oriented silicon steel sheet by cold rolling the hot rolled sheet of a silicon steel to the final sheet thickness, then subjecting the steel sheet to decarburization annealing and finish annealing. CONSTITUTION:After the hot rolled sheet of the silicon steel contg. 0.02-0.1wt.% C and 2.5-4.0wt.% Si is annealed, the steel sheet is worked by one pass of cold rolling or >=2 passes of cold rolling including intermediate annealing to the final sheet thickness. The rolling is executed by using work rolls having 80-450mm diameter as rolls for cold rolling and confining the deposition of the rolling mill lubricant on the steel sheet surface to <=3g/m<2>. The steel sheet is then subjected to the decarburization annealing and finish annealing, by which the grain oriented silicon steel sheet having the excellent magnetic characteristics is produced with good productivity.
