Abstract

PURPOSE:To shorten the time for annealing and to enable continuous annealing so that productivity is improved by controlling the annealing conditions for the cold rolled sheet of a Cr-Al stainless steel having a specific compsn. by a specific temp. range and holding time. CONSTITUTION:The annealing of the cold rolled sheet of the Cr-Al stainless steel contg., by weight %, 17-21% Cr, 2-4% Al, <0.10% C, 1.50% Si, and 1.0% Mn, and further, contg. Ti or rare earth elements is executed by specifying the annealing temp. and the time for holding the stainless steel at the annealing temp. within the hatched area connecting the respective points; point A (850 deg.C, 30sec), point B (950 deg.C, 30sec), point C (1,000 deg.C, 0.1sec), point D (950 deg.C, 60sec), and point E (850 deg.C, 60sec) in the orthogonal coordinates taking the above- mentioned annealing temp. and holding time at the coordinate axes. The shorter annealing time is thus necessitated and the continuous annealing is enabled, by which the productivity is improved.
