Abstract
PURPOSE:To take out briquettes as synthetic coke and iron ore as reduced iron by charging the iron ore and briquettes into a shaft furnace from the top thereof, burning part of the combustible components in a byproduced gas and blowing the gas as a high-temp. reducing gas into the furnace from the lower part thereof. CONSTITUTION:The iron ore 21 is charged through a hopper 22 into the shaft furnace 1 from the top thereof and the briquettes 35 formed by kneading 33 and molding 34 powdery caking coal 30, noncaking coal 31 and binder 32 such as tar and pitch are charged through a hopper 36 into the furnace. The byproduced gas contg. the combustible components such as CO, H2 and CH4 discharged from the shaft furnace 1 is taken out and is treated to remove tar, dust and water therefrom by a gas treating device; thereafter, part of the gas is supplied to a combustion furnace 16 where the combustible components are partly burned by the air from a blower 17. The high-temp. gas of 750-1,000 deg.C contg. the remaining CO, H2 and CH4 is then blown into the furnace from the lower part thereof to dry distill and coke the briquettes and to reduce the iron ore in a solid phase. The reduced iron is taken out together with the synthetic coke from a feeding port 14 in the bottom of the furnace.
