Abstract
PURPOSE:To precisely detect the abnormality of a fuel injection valve by changing the criterion of the number of reverse times of the air-fuel ratio in idling for detecting the abnormality of the fuel injection valve according to the altitude at which a vehicle runs in an internal combustion engine provided with the fuel injection valve at each cylinder. CONSTITUTION:To the exhaust passage of an internal combustion engine provided with a fuel injection valve at each cylinder a means A for detecting an air-fuel ratio is provided. Based on the output of the means A, a means B controls the feedback of the air-fuel ratio. The idle running condition of the internal-combustion engine, the air-fuel ratio feedback frequency in the idle running condition and atmospheric pressure are detected by means C, D and E respectively. In addition, the detected frequency and a preset value are compared by a means F, and when the detected value is larger than the preset value, an abnormality signal is output. On the other hand, the preset value of the means F is changed according to the variation of detected atmospheric pressure by a means G. Based on the abnormality signal output from the means F, a means H displays the abnormality of the fuel injection valve.
