Abstract
PURPOSE:To control the exhaust gas fed to a trap in a regularized amount constantly by providing the opening of an inlet valve in two ways in inverse proportion to the number of revolutions of an engine and also controlling the by-pass valves of each opening according to the differential pressure before and behind the inlet valve. CONSTITUTION:A particulate trap 2 is connected to the exhaust pipe 1 of a diesel engine E together with a heater 3 fixed to the inlet side of the particulate trap 2. Also to be provided, in this case, are an inlet valve 5 that opens or closes to pass or stop the exhaust gas inflowing into the trap 2 and a by-pass valve 6 to make the exhaust gas by-pass the trap 2. The inlet valve 5, the by-pass valve 6 and the heater 3 are to be controlled, respectively, by a control unit 13 based on the respective detecting signals from a sensor 9 that measures the differential pressure before and behind the inlet valve 5 and a sensor 10 that detects the number of revolutions of the engine E. Namely, the opening of the inlet valve 5 is to be provided in two ways in inverse proportion to the number of revolutions of the engine and also the by-pass valve 6 is to be controlled at each opening according to the respective differential pressure.
