Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the dispersibility and packability of magnetic powder as well as electromagnetic conversion characteristics and traveling durability by using nitrocellulose having 40-70 average degree of polymn. as a binder component of magnetic powder of a Co-contg. iron oxide having <=0.3mum particle size. CONSTITUTION:The nitrocellulose to be used is preferably the nitrocellulose having 40-70 average degree of polymn. Said nitrocellulose has good affinity to the magnetic powder and the excellent mechanical characteristics of the magnetic coated film are obtd. This kind of nitrocellulose is used at 10-60wt.% of the total weight of the binder component contained in the magnetic layer. The dispersibility and packability of the magnetic powder of the Co-contg. iron oxide have <=0.3mum particle size are thereby sufficiently improved. The traveling durability is sufficiently satisfied as well as the tough magnetic layer is formed.
