Abstract

PURPOSE:To efficiently update stored data and to decode even document data of an old version by providing a decoder which reconstitutes document data from the output of a storage control part and a difference device which extracts difference data. CONSTITUTION:In the case of update of stored document data, character data already stored in a storage device 13 is read out by a storage control part 12 and is sent to a decoder 11. The decoder 11 reconstitutes document data and sends it to a difference device 10, and this device 10 compares this data with inputted update data and extracts the difference as difference data and sends it to the control part 12. The control part 12 adds difference data to the device 13 to execute update. In case of decoding of document data, character data already stored in the device 13 is read out by the control part 12 and is sent to the decoder 11, and the decoder 11 reconstitutes document data and transfers it to the output to execute decoding. Thus, stored data is efficiently updated and even document data of an old version is taken out in a read-after- write filing device.
