Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain the titled polymer having excellent transparency, heat and impact resistance and improved hygroscopicity, by adding a polycarbonate to a polyether imide solution, adding and blending a modified silicone with the resultant solution and heating the obtained blend. CONSTITUTION:(A) A polyether imide is dissolved in an inert solvent and (B) a polycarbonate in an amount of 50-20wt.% based on the above-mentioned polymer is added and dissolved therein. (C) A modified silicone oil in an amount of <=30wt.% based on the total amount of the polymer is subsequently added and blended and the obtained blend is heated to bond the components (A) to (B) with chemical bonds and impart a comb-shaped structure to the formed polymer. Thereby the aimed polyether imide is obtained.
