Abstract

PURPOSE: To eliminate the need for a machine room so as to install an elevator compactly and easily by causing a ring with thread lines formed thereon to be freely rotationally axially attached to the outside of a shaft, engaging the ring with a threaded column suspended and secured outside the shaft, and raising and lowering the elevator through the rotation of the ring. CONSTITUTION: In the shaft 1 of an elevator A, a ring 2 with thread lines formed on its inner surface is borne on a bearing 3 and engaged with a threaded column 4 to transmit the rotation of a motor 5 to rotate the ring 2, the upper and lower ends of the threaded column 4 being surely secured to an elevator room. A pair of wheels 8 are provided at the right and left of the shaft 1 and rotated along guide rails 7 secured to the elevator room, to thereby keep the track of the shaft 1 constant. When the ring 2 is rotated by the motor 5, the ring 2, together with the shaft 1, rises and falls relative to the threaded column 4. Therefore, the elevator A requires no machine room to enable cost reduction and can be installed compactly and easily.
