Abstract

PURPOSE:To confirm an original near the reading position directly by installing a mirror to the side of a lens array. CONSTITUTION:An image forming lens array 3 forms an image on photosensors (a-Si or the like) arranged in a line (perpendicularly to this paper) on a unit base 4. A mirror 5 is used to observe an original under the reading position by several mm (left direction in figure) and a mirror 6 reflects a light reflected in the mirror 5 upward and observes it as an errected image. The light radiated from the light source 1 becomes a scattered light on the face of the original 2, forms its image to the sensor at the lower face of the unit base 4 through the lens array 3 and converted into an electric signal. Moreover, part of the light is reflected in the mirrors 5, 6, the image is an errected image and goes to the window above the outer case. Since the original near the read position is observed as the errected image, the read position is confirmed easily.
