Abstract

CONSTITUTION:A thermal recording head composed of heat generating resistor elements 11 arranged in one row in a predetermined direction and constituted so as to make printing long in the main scanning direction thereof is used and the quantity of the current flowing through the heat generating resistor elements 11 is changed to obtain a desired medium contrast image. At this time, printing operation is performed in either one of control modes of a melting type recording mode or a sublimation type recording mode. That is, in the melting type recording mode, a zigzag dot pattern is formed and, in the sublimation type recording mode, a pattern printing all of the dots of one line is obtained.
