Abstract

PURPOSE:To make the whole body of an axle device compact by attaching a part extended outward the peripheral edge of a piston over the whole area of an end face of the piston tightly to a wall part in and around the piston in an oiltight manner, and installing an elastic member, consisting of one ring metal plate, between this thightly attached part and the piston's peripheral edge. CONSTITUTION:A seal ring 29 is held in between with each mounting part 27a and a hub body 9, and thereby hydraulic pressure to be fed to a hydraulic actuating chamber 25 is sealed. A bend part 27b of an elastic member 27 is elastically deformed by the hydraulic pressure to be fed to the hydraulic actuating chamber 25 and thereby a piston 26 is driven. When braking of the piston 26 is released, it is reset by resiliency of the bend part 27b. Consequently, disuse of an O-ring is made possible owing to a piston driving mechanism, thus seal's durability is improvable. In addition, a piston return mechanism is simplified in structure, thus wall thickness of the hub body 9 in the car width direction can be made thinner, and that since the elastic member 27 is of almost flat ring form, it can be set up with a little space to the car width direction, thus the whole axle device can be compactly constituted.
