Abstract

PURPOSE:To stabilize the output of a sensor over a long period and to increase the detecting accuracy of fuel concentration by strongly fastening the constitut ing members of a fuel concentration sensor with a supporter. CONSTITUTION:The porosity of a fuel concentration sensor used for a fuel cell is controlled to increase a fuel penetration retarding effect for instance. A platinum group catalyst layer 30b is formed on one side of a porous carbon substrate 31a and a fuel penetration retarding layer 31b is formed on the other side thereof, and this is closely fitted to a current collecting plate 30a, then they are interposed between supporters 41, 42 made of phenol resin plates and fastened with phenol resin bolts 43, and peripheral ends are sealed to prevent the penetration of anolyte. A groove 45 into which a cathode 32 is inserted and anolyte holes 44 are installed in the supporter 42. The sensing part of the fuel concentration sensor is set in a sensor chamber installed in the vicinity of an anolyte tank to prevent performance deterioration caused by extended operation.
