CONSTITUTION:In the multiple layer magneto-optical recording medium, the non-magnetic element is attached on either or both adjacent two magnetic layers 1 and 2. As the non-magnetic element, for example, an Si or a Ge, etc., is used. The interchangeable coupling force is controlled by extending a distance between magnetic atoms between layers substantially by attaching the non- magnetic element in the magnetic layers 1 and 2 and decreasing an interchangeable mutual function by decreasing the number of magnetic atoms most adjacent to each other. In such a way, it is possible to prevent the excessive interchangeable coupling force from being generated between the magnetic layers 1 and 2 in the overwritable magneto-optical recording medium.
