Abstract
PURPOSE:To provide a novel method of cleaning scales which are generated in the heat exchanger of an acidic gas remover in a gasification process, and which are difficult to be cleaned by cleaning the heat exchanger in two stages of cleaning by an alkali solution of high concentration heated to a temperature higher than a specific temperature and pickling, and using in a combination a nitrogen gas bubbling operation. CONSTITUTION:First, an alkali solution having a high alkali concentration of 10-20% (not about 1% which has been conventionally carried out) and by heating the solution to 70 deg.C or higher, whereby sulfur increases its solutility and almost elutes. By conducting picking continuous to cleaning inorganic matters such as iron sulfide, iron oxide and the like dissolve. However, unburnt carbons and organic matters do not dissolve but remain in the form of porous matters. By using in combination a nitrogen gas bubbling operation so as to exfoliate and collapse the residue, scale cleaning-off are substantially completely carried out. If any one of these three operations is not carried out, cleaning-off of scales are extremely incomplete, and therefore the object of cleaning is not attained.
