Abstract

PURPOSE:To uniformly cool flanged steel shapes on a rolling line by disposing plural pieces of nozzle supporting parts vertically disposed with plural pieces of cooling nozzles freely turnably within a horizontal plane to frames disposed respectively on both sides of the rolling line. CONSTITUTION:A flange cooler is disposed behind the final finishing mill of a universal rolling mill train for steel shapes to cool the H-shaped steels 21 on conveying rollers 8. A pair of the frames 1a, 1b of the above-mentioned cooler are disposed on the right and left of the line. Plural pieces of the nozzle supporting parts 10 vertically disposed with plural pieces of the cooling nozzles 11 are disposed at prescribed intervals in the longitudinal direction of the frames 1a, 1b. The nozzle supporting parts 10 are pivotally supported in bearings 9 to the frames 1a, 1b so that the supporting parts are turned freely within the horizontal plane orthogonal with the flange faces 21a of the steel shapes 21 by means of oscillating device 15. The uniform cooling of the flanges of the above-mentioned H-shaped steels 21 stopped in the prescribed position is thus enabled by supplying cooling water from cooling water heads 13 via flow rate control valves 14 and flexible hoses 12 to the above-mentioned cooling nozzles 11.
