Abstract

PURPOSE:To enhance the ink-absorption, resolving power, color-forming properties, color-forming density, etc., by incorporating a large quantity of a pigment having a high ink absorbing power and a specific combination in a coated layer and specifying the resistance to ozone of an ink accepting layer. CONSTITUTION:A coated layer is formed on a substrate by using a coating liquid mixed with a pigment, a binder, and various types of additives, as necessary. The pigment consists of a silicon-containing pigment, such as silica, silicate mineral, and synthetic silicate compound, and an aluminum oxide. Especially, a pigment exhibiting a 20 or less discoloration E *<ab> of C.I. food black 2 by an ozone test is used as the silicon-containing pigment together with the aluminum oxide. In this manner, superior dye coloring properties can be obtained while a yellowing inhibiting effect is maintained, and a high-density image can be obtained. A mechanism of this effect is considered as that; the dye- trapping properties of the coated layer is enhanced by containing the aluminum oxide, thus allowing the dye in an ink applied on the surface to be trapped near the surface without penetrating into the interior thereof.
