Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent a welding defect from occurring and to increase welding speed by oscillating laser beam on a specific condition in the sending direction of a welding member. CONSTITUTION:A plane mirror 3 and a parabolic mirror 4 are arranged to a laser beam 2 and the laser beam 2 is projected onto a butting part 1a of the welding member 1 in parallel rays. In this case, an exciter 5 is mounted on the mirror 4 to oscillate it 4 in the direction of an arrow. The conditions of oscillation are as follows: the amplitude W is made 0.25-1.5 times the beam diameter D and the number of oscillation N(Hz) is given by N>=V/3W, where V shows the welding speed. Accordingly, when the relative speed of a beam condensing part to the welding member 1 is small, a sufficient weld infiltration is obtained to provide continuous lapped beads. Therefore, weld defects such as holes, etc., are prevented and welding speed is increased.
