Abstract

PURPOSE:To compansate the weld quality by detecting the dislocation of a joint at the position ahead of a machining path by the optical method from the machining means supply direction and correcting the machining path taught by analyzing its detected result to evade the interference of a work with a sensor. CONSTITUTION:A linear beam is projected on the position in the vicinity of an arc point of the groove face 3 from a projection means 6 fitted to a supporting body 5 of a welding torch 1. Optical cutting images Q1-Q4 taking place on the groove face 3 by projection parts 7 and 8 are observed by a photodetection means 9 to detect a welding profile line. The detected three-dimensional dislocation vector quantity is decomposed into the supply direction of a machining means and the orthogonal direction to this with a picture processing device. With a component in the supply direction, an average value of detected results of plural points up to the last time is used to correct the taught machining path. A component to meet at right angles to the supply direction is corrected by using the detected component in that direction. By this method, the distance between the work position and the optical means is lengthened and the profile control of a weld line can be carried out without deteriorating the welding quality.
