Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the titled compound useful as a polymer raw material, etc., advantageously on an industrial scale, by reacting a bacterium cell of microorganism belonging to the genus Rhodococcus and having ability capable of decomposing a specific aliphatic nitrile or treated bacterium cell thereof with the above-mentioned nitrile. CONSTITUTION:A bacterium cell of microorganism [e.g. Rhodococcus sp. YK-196 bacterium cell (FERM P-9383)] belonging to the genus Rhodococcus having ability capable of decomposing 2-6C aliphatic nitrile or treated bacterium cell thereof is reacted with the above-mentioned nitrile (e.g. acrylonitrile) to provide the amide (e.g. acrylamide) corresponding to the above-mentioned nitrile. Further more, when the bacterium cell of the above-mentioned bacterium is used, the corresponding amide can be obtained by cultivating the bacterium cell in culture medium containing the nitrile.
