Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the titled feed composed mainly of euglena, having high nutritive value and excellent preservability and useful as a substitute for natural plankton, by centrifuging cultured liquid of euglena, concentrating the collected cells and subjecting the concentrate e.g. to freeze-drying. CONSTITUTION:A cultured liquid of euglena is concentrated by centrifugal cell-collection or filtration and is subjected to freeze-drying, refrigeration or freeze-storage to obtain the objective feed composed mainly of euglena and as necessary having a feed particle diameter controlled by granulation of euglena cells. The euglena is preferably enriched with a fish or shellfish oil rich in an omega-3 highly unsaturated fatty acid during the cultivation of euglena.
