Abstract

PURPOSE:To detect the height of a ground-working vehicle, etc., over a wide range and to enable accurate control of the height, by setting the detection range of a non-contact sensor in the direction of the width of the machine to be wider than the detection range in the moving direction of the machine. CONSTITUTION:The distance between the ground surface and a non-contact sensor 12 is determined by emitting an ultrasonic wave from a transmission microphone 12a in a laterally extended waveguide 22, counting the period required to receive the reflected sound with a reception microphone 12b, multiplying the period by the sound velocity and multiplying the value by 1/2. The real plowing depth obtained by the above process is controlled to a prescribed plowing depth by extending or contracting a hydraulic cylinder 15 to enable the detection of the height over a wide range in lateral direction.
