Abstract

PURPOSE:To preclude a dielectric breakdown accident by calculating a mutual correlation coefficient between every two signal waveforms obtained by converting ultrasonic wave sensor outputs from analog to digital and calculating the position of partial discharging from a difference in arrival time between sensors. CONSTITUTION:The ultrasonic wave sensors 3a-3d are installed at different positions and detect ultrasonic waves generated by the partial discharging to generate electric signals. The output waveforms of the ultrasonic wave sensors 3a-3d are converted by a waveform storage circuit 5 into digital signal waveforms, which are stored. Then an arithmetic unit 6 reads the digital signal waveforms and calculates a mutual correlation coefficient between every two digital signal waveforms; and the arrival time difference of the ultrasonic waves to the ultrasonic wave sensor is calculated from the maximum value and multiplied by the speed of the ultrasonic waves to calculate the distance difference, thereby calculating and deciding the position of the partial discharging.
