Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain an original signal by using a diffusion light source by constituting the optical displacement detector so that the size of the pattern of a subordinate grating for an origin is a specific multiple of the size of the pattern of a main grating for the origin. CONSTITUTION:A main grating 62 for measurement and the main grating 64 for the origin are formed on a 1st member 10 and a subordinate grating 72 for measurement and the subordinate grating 74 for the origin are provided to a 2nd member 20 which is arranged relatively movably to the 1st member 10. The pattern of the subordinate grating 74 for the origin is formed to size which is (y+v)/u times as large as the pattern of the main grating 64 for the origin according to the distance (u) between the diffusion light source 50 and the 1st member 10 and the distance (v) between the 1st and 2nd members. Consequently, the origin signal can be obtained by the diffusion light source 50 without utilizing diffraction effect, so a collimator lens which is required conventionally to obtain parallel illumination light is not necessary.
