Abstract

PURPOSE:To restrain the vibration of a propeller shaft caused by fluctuation of torque thereof by forming a shaft member in three-layer construction which is composed of a first winding layer, a second layer arranged adjacent to the first layer and an elastic body interposed between the first and second layers. CONSTITUTION:A shaft member 10 made of FRP is provided with a first filament winding layer 18 made of graphite whose outer circumference is covered by the most external layer 17 made of carbon excellent in heat resistance, in the inner side of which a rubber layer 19 composed of natural rubber serving as an elastic body is provided with its outer diameter nearly the same as the inner diameter of the first layer 18. Further, a second filament winding layer 20 made of graphite with nearly the same outer diameter as the inner diameter of the rubber layer 19 is provided therein. Therefore, its twisting rigidity can be restrained by the elastic operation of the rubber layer 19.
